When was the last time you said "yes" to an opportunity that scared you?

Unleashing the Power of 'Yes' – Lessons from Cathy McKnight

Chief Problem Solver at The Content Advisory, shared how her "Year of Yes" transformed her career, pushing her to explore new ventures, embrace risks, and connect with people in ways she hadn’t before. Her story isn’t just inspiring—it’s a roadmap for anyone striving to carve their own path.

The Right Fit: Which Work Culture Appeals to Me?

One of the first things Cathy emphasized was the importance of organizational culture and company size, something she learned by navigating through both small startups and huge corporations. The environment that suits me best? I realize I thrive in a close-knit team with room for creativity and collaboration, where communication is open and ideas are valued. For me, a smaller, agile company feels right, as it allows for more flexibility and less rigid hierarchies.

The Impact of a "Year of Yes"

Cathy's "Year of Yes" was transformative. Saying “yes” allowed her to explore opportunities she might have missed by staying in her comfort zone. This inspired me to consider my own professional path. Embracing a “yes” mentality opens doors to unexpected opportunities and helps overcome the fear of failure. Cathy’s experience has shown me that approaching my career with an open mindset could help me grow in ways I hadn’t thought possible.

Leaning into My Strengths

Cathy’s advice to “lean into the things you’re good at” is something I can relate to, especially in my co-op search. Two of my strengths are creativity and digital marketing skills. During a recent project for my agency, I leveraged my creativity by designing impactful visuals, which brought in positive feedback from the team. For my co-op, I plan to highlight this skill and showcase examples to potential employers.

Additionally, my digital marketing skills have been sharpened through coursework, where I successfully implemented targeted strategies to engage audiences online. This experience will undoubtedly be a valuable asset as I continue searching for the right co-op placement. Cathy’s advice reminds me to embrace and amplify my strengths in all aspects of my career journey.

Their social media skills and specific approach to content and style make it easier for the artist and visual arts community to access a wider range of audiences nationally and internationally. They play a valuable role in advocating for the voice of the artist.

I collaborated with Pinknet for my solo show opening and I can't say enough good things about Negar and the entire team. I am a camera shy, introvert person but they made me look like I have been doing this my whole life. They did a great job with my reel and I can't wait to collaborate again.
